Parish Life
Find your place in our caring community through prayer, service, and fellowship. Whether you’re looking to grow spiritually, give support, or simply belong—there’s a place for you here.
Presbyterian Women
Presbyterian Women is an engaged, caring, and inclusive circle of women from the church and wider community. They gather monthly (September–May) for Bible or book study, prayer, food, and fellowship—usually on the first Thursday, 10 a.m.–noon, in the Fellowship Hall and via Zoom.
Presbyterian Women support both national Presbyterian offerings and local charities. Their ministry includes providing handmade prayer shawls to those facing loss or illness, and baby blankets to welcome newborns. The group closes each year with a June picnic.
Rooted in faith and service, they support the Presbyterian Women’s Purpose: to nurture faith, promote mission, work for justice and peace, and build community.
Prayer Life at SPC
“Prayer is expanding the heart in the presence of God.”
– John Calvin
Prayer grounds our life together at SPC—through worship, communion, and shared practices of care and compassion.
SPC PrayerNet
A group of nearly 90 members prays regularly for joys, concerns, and needs submitted by our community. You're invited to share your prayer request through our PrayerNet form. You may also call the church office at 304-876-6466 (M–F, 8 a.m.–2 p.m.).
Parish Care Committee
This team supports the deacons in caring for our congregation. Whether it’s meals, rides, or companionship during difficult times, the Parish Care Committee is here to help.
They regularly organize practical workshops on topics like:
- End-of-life planning
- Living with chronic illness
- Understanding Alzheimer’s
- Grief support and more
Deacon Shepherds
At SPC, deacons are called to ministries of compassion, presence, and service. Each Deacon Shepherd cares for a “flock”—a small group of members—offering spiritual support, friendship, and help with practical needs like meals or transportation.
Ordained to this ministry, our deacons meet monthly with Pastor Gusti and each other to share learning, offer support, and grow in faith. Through a “Share the Care” model, they ensure that no one faces life’s challenges alone.
Men's Breakfast and Fellowship
The men of SPC periodically meet on Saturday mornings to share food and fellowship. If you’re interested in joining or helping to plan, please fill out the interest form.
