It is with heavy hearts and deep concern, we, the Office of Public Witness of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), bear witness to the harm set in motion by Thursday’s passage of a budget reconciliation bill in the U.S. House of Representatives under the cover of night. While some have labeled it “The Big Beautiful Bill,” within the faith community it is rightly dubbed: “The Big Bad, Deadly Bill.”
On June 8, the SPC Matthew 25 team is sponsoring a discussion on the myriad and devastating impacts of the House reconciliation bill. At 9:30am we will host a panel in Fellowship Hall composed of community and SPC members who will discuss the environmental aspects, cuts to SNAP, medical impacts, and action steps we can take. Panelists will include Derek Smith, Mary Anne Hitt, Dr. Catherine Feaga, Mark Peiffer and Pastor Gusti.
